Carl is the founder of the independent firm VAL Trust Financial and has been assisting clients with their retirement planning goals since 1999. During his prior career as a chiropractor, Carl interacted with his patients and heard stories of the financial industry — including the ups and downs of long-term care. He also witnessed and experienced “Black Monday” firsthand, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 22.6% in a single trading session on Oct. 19, 1987. His growing concern and desire to help educate people on retirement planning led him to the financial services industry, where he now works to help individuals work toward their retirement goals.

For most of his financial career, Carl has focused on these core elements of retirement planning: legacy, financial and health care. He works with clients to help shield their assets from the potential consequences of risk. Carl has continued to refine and build upon this work, and he now brings his customized V-A-L-U-E Process to every client, offering comprehensive retirement services.

Carl studied business and pre-med at the University of Maryland. He went on to obtain his doctorate of chiropractic. Now, having been in the financial services industry for nearly a quarter-century, Carl has held his life and health insurance licenses since 1999 and passed the Series 65 securities exam in 2008 to become an Investment Adviser Representative.

Carl lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife, Nancy, and their nine-year-old Havanese dog named Kacee. Among Carl’s proudest accomplishments are his five grown children — Tara, Erika, John, Carlee and Alex — and the lives they’ve created. He truly enjoys the time they spend together and the chance to do things as a family. Carl also enjoys time spent gardening, working out and vacationing.
